Cryogenic Deflashing Compounds
Cryogenic Engineering by Design
AT SUB ZERO TEMPERATURES CONSISTANCY IS KING
Whatever the cryogenic deflashing application, to achieve successful results with maximum efficiencies requires high levels of consistency over all aspects of the shotblasting process. Strict control of the shotblast media is critical in obtaining any hope of consistency and while some producers of blast media use 2nd grade regrind polymer or reprocessed material in their product this produces poor results and ultimately failures in the deflashing process.
DIEBLAST Systems only use prime, virgin polymers in their cryogenic products ensuring continuity of quality.
The unique die-cut system developed by DIEBLAST produces a cleaner, more accurate pellet profile and a more consistent high quality deflashing performance.
Standard Competitor Quality
Dieblast Systems Die-Cut Pellets
DIEBLAST SYSTEMS CRYOGENICALLY ENGINEERED MICRO – PELLETS
The shotblasting criteria for deflashing EPDM “O” rings at -40⁰C are completely different to that required in “flash freezing” and deflashing a silicone overmoulding @ -120⁰C.
Experience has shown, in cryogenic deflashing quality of blast media is the most significant factor in cost and quality control of any application process. For over 20 years DIEBLAST Systems have developed a number of cryogenic blast media products to meet the demand from end users and blast equipment producers.
CRYOGENIC GRADE STANDARD PRODUCT RANGE
DIEBLAST CRYSTAL CUBE
Abrasion resistant in cryogenic conditions produced from high molecular wt branched polymer. For maximum hardness and impact strength at low wheel speeds < 4000rpm
DIEBLAST PRIME
Impact modified grade for applications requiring high kinetic Energy blasting (over 7,000rpm wheel speeds). Ideal for P.E.E.K. type polymer alloys and Silicone overmoulding.
DIEBLAST CONDUCTIVE
High carbon loaded/anti-static grade to control “rubber dust” build up and the anti-static shotblasting of microelectronics.
DIEBLAST MEDIBLAST
Non bisphenol A (BPA) for use in the medical industry and the deburring of medical implants.

CRYOGENIC ENGINEERING BY DESIGN
CRYOGENIC DAMAGE IN “0” RING PRODUCTION
It is estimated that up to 20% of rejected “O” rings at final inspection are caused by the cryogenic deflashing process.
Deflashing costs to some company’s in the industry can be 300% higher than their competitors.
DIEBLAST Systems have published a review of the many advantages and pitfalls in the delicate art of cryogenic deflashing.
The publication is not an in depth analysis of the Subject matter, more a light hearted reflection of our 20 years’ experience in the industry.
